December 23, 2014 | The 2014 Main Street Christmas Ornament is now available and features the historic Hotel Grim in downtown Texarkana.

The ornament is ninth in the series of collectible ornaments that Main Street Texarkana produces each year to recognize the city’s oldest treasures.  Many people collect the ornaments throughout the year as gifts to visitors or for personal display, said Ina McDowell, director of Main Street Texarkana.  We usually sell several at a time with purchasers keeping a tradition of giving the ornaments to family and friends each year.  People begin calling weeks in advance to find out which building or attraction will be featured, she said.

Previous year’s ornaments include:  U.S. Post Office/Courthouse, Perot Theater, Ace of Clubs House, Municipal Building, Ensign Fountain, U.S. Federal Courthouse (TRAHC Building), Offenhauser Building (Museum of Regional History), and Union Station.

Each ornament is made of pewter and sells for $15.  All are available through the Main Street Texarkana office located in the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, 819 N. State Line Avenue. This year’s ornament is also available at Flanagan’s Shenanigans, Fan Fare Gifts, Downtown Galleries and Pleasant Grove Pharmacy.  A limited supply of past year’s ornaments may also be available at these additional locations.

“We have reordered this year’s medallions of the Hotel Grim.  They should arrive about the middle of January 2015.  We have a list of names and numbers that we will call and notify people when they are here for pickup,” stated McDowell.
