TEXARKANA, TEXAS– The city of Texarkana, Texas has nine openings in the Public Works Department, along with five other openings across city departments.

Public Works Director Kyle Dooley says the Streets Department is down two entire crews because of the openings.

“We have some turnover in public works, so it seems that we hire regularly, but it is very unusual to have nine positions available,” Dooley said. “I can’t recall ever having this many positions to fill.”

Openings include a mechanic and apprentice mechanic in the Fleet Department, and formsetter/finisher, heavy equipment operator, right of way laborer, truck driver for the street construction and patching crew, truck driver for the right of way and drainage crew, and construction and patching crew laborer in the Streets Department. There is also an opening in the Sign and Signal Department for a traffic signal technician.

All of these positions will remain open until filled. Interested applicants should visit http://ci.texarkana.tx.us and click on “Employment Opportunities” for more information. The City of Texarkana, Texas is an equal opportunity employer.
