A nonprofit organization is offering home improvement loans to low- and moderate-income homeowners in the Texarkana area and across more than 30 Arkansas counties.
Communities Unlimited provides loans up to $3,500 with a two-year term at 10% APR, with no collateral required and no minimum credit score. The program targets homeowners who may not qualify for traditional lending options.
Eligible repairs include leaking roofs, HVAC systems, flooring, mold remediation, and other critical fixes that affect health and safety.
Arkansas counties eligible for the program include Miller and Little River in the Texarkana area, along with Arkansas, Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Clay, Cleveland, Columbia, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Hempstead, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Lincoln, Mississippi, Monroe, Nevada, Ouachita, Phillips, Poinsett, Prairie, St. Francis, Union, and Woodruff.
To qualify, applicants must demonstrate proof of homeownership and maintain a debt-to-income ratio at or below 40%. Proof of on-time payments may be requested in place of a credit check.
