The Love of Children Foundation is the newest branch of The Damien Davis Foundation-a non-profit organization that was founded in 2013 by Damien Davis, CEO. Their mission is to provide a nutritious meal and clothing to as many people as possible to the poor or those in need, not just children. The focus of The Love of Children Foundation is not only the less fortunate community, but the Texarkana community as a whole.
The LOCF will host family oriented events, aimed at giving parents an opportunity to spend time with their children without having to worry about the costs or safety. Texarkana is a family-friendly environment, Damien saw it only right that his oldest son, Keilan Davis, to be the face of the Foundation.
Keilan Davis is the 10 yr. old son of Damien and Brittany Davis and is currently a 5th grade student at Pleasant Grove Intermediate School, where he is an Honor Roll Student. Keilan is also an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he serves on the Jr. Usher Board. Outside of academics, Keilan enjoys playing basketball for LEYA.
The Davis family is from Texarkana, where the idea for the non-profit transpired after years of watching his grandparents help others in the community. Currently, Davis donates to non-profit organizations, coaches basketball and works at waste management when he isn’t working on his foundation.
“The Bible tells me it’s better to give than receive,” explained Davis. “You get more joy out of it when you know you are helping someone.”
In August of 2017, Davis was nominated as the Hometown Hero and later honored at the Wilbur Smith Awards through Leadership Texarkana that same year. To help Davis start up his foundation, or to volunteer, contact him at damiendavisfoundation13@yahoo or 903.559.2733.
