Green Texarkana to be Saturday, Dec. 12

The last Green Texarkana recycling drive of 2015 will be held Saturday in Downtown Texarkana. Volunteers will work from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at E. Third and Hazel streets, unloading single-stream recyclables and electronics.

Items accepted include paper, plastic and cardboard. Items that cannot be accepted include glass, fluorescent light bulbs, paint, tires, Styrofoam, hazardous materials, furniture and other bulk waste.

Electronics such as TVs, computers, printers, cell phones, tablets and radios can be recycled at this event.

Ink cartridges, plastic film like grocery and dry cleaning bags, and tin and aluminum cans are accepted but should be sorted from other materials, because they go to different processors.
