Plane Heading to South Carolina Diverts to Texarkana

A plane en route from DFW Airport to Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina made an unscheduled emergency landing in Texarkana Saturday morning.

Expressjet Flight 2777 operating as American Eagle landed at Texarkana 8:40 Saturday morning due to an unknown mechanical problem.

Texarkana, Arkansas Fire Department was dispatched to the airport for an alert-1 status. The plane landed and taxied to the gate with no problems.

According to radio traffic there were 45 people on the plane. No word on what the mechanical problem was that caused the plane to divert.
