Probation absconder John Mathis, 37, was arrested Wednesday after violating probation.

Mathis was placed on probation for a drug conviction, and in the course of five months failed to report to supervision officer.

According to Arkansas Community Correction, Mathis was sentenced in March to five years probation.

According to ACC officials, the Special Response Team set out in search of Mathis and was able to locate him in a motel room in Texarkana.

Mathis was found with a sawed-off shotgun in his possession.

Mathis was arrested and transported to county jail on Thursday, and is now facing probation revocation for absconding, in addition to a felony charge for a felon in possession of a shotgun.
