Public’s help leads to identification of check fraud suspect

Texarkana Texas Police Department identified a check fraud suspect who reportedly passed stolen checks at a local Walmart.

According to a release from TTPD, officials were able to identify the suspect with tips from the public.

The suspect was identified as Charlene Johnson, 40.

“Several people immediately recognized her and contacted us to let us know the lady in the pictures was Charlene Johnson, 40, of Texarkana, Texas. We really appreciate that,” wrote TTPD in a statement released on Facebook.

According to officials, after she was identified, TTPD was able to obtain felony warrant for her for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information.

Police also discovered Johnson also had additional outstanding felony warrants for failing to appear on burglary charges out of Bowie County.

Police continue to search for Johnson and believe she is hiding.

TTPD urges the public to call 903-798-3116 with any information on her whereabouts or if she is spotted somewhere in the community of Texarkana.
