There’s a way to keep your child’s mind active and engaged all summer without them feeling like they’re going back to school: Workshops at Klondike Academy! The Summer Workshops at Klondike Academy aren’t your regular old summer camp or summer program. Each week offers something different from robotics and STEM classes in website design, scriptwriting, mystery writing, drama, and so much more.

One of the first workshops, offered June 3-6, is called Writing for Screen and Stage. In it, kids will learn the elements of writing scripts for plays, movies, and more. They’ll learn what makes a good script by discussing plays and films they love, but to top it all off, they’ll write their own one-acts. Oh yeah, did we mention that some of those one-acts will be chosen to be performed by the kids in the Drama Camp offered the very next week? What other summer programs give kids the opportunity to see their work realized and performed?

Have any young aspiring novelists in your life? There are several other writing workshops they can be part of! They can learn the basics of storytelling and write their own short stories in the Storybook Writing Workshop. Is mystery more their cup of tea? We’ve also got a class for kids who just love classic who-done-it tales and want to learn how to write one on their own in the Writing Mysteries Workshop. And that’s not all… With the rise in popularity of comics and comic book adaptations, a Comic Book Creation workshop will also be offered. Kids will learn how to perfectly marry text and images to create compelling tales that, who knows, may end up on the big screen one day!

Is science more your child’s thing? We’ve got that covered too. We will offer several STEM Clubs and science project workshops throughout the summer. Kids can learn how to build their own robots and try out some crazy fun science experiments. They’ll be learning different aspects of science and having fun at the same time. How’s that for kicking summer brain? The little techies in your life can also get something out of these workshops by joining our Website Design Workshop where they’ll learn principles of website design as well as the basics of several popular coding languages, so they can build their very own websites.

This program also offers classes for the little tots out there that are just getting ready to start school. Let’s face it, many of us are busy parents and don’t have nearly as much time as we want to work with our children to get them ready for Kindergarten. The Kindergarten Readiness classes offered at The Learning Center at Klondike Academy are the perfect solution. Your little ones will learn all they need to know and will get help preparing for their first big step into education, all while receiving spectacular and nurturing care.

These are just a few of the programs being offered this summer. There are so many others that we couldn’t list them all here! We want kids to experience different types of art and explore different skill sets that they can utilize later in life and can potentially make a career out of. Your child can take as many of the classes as they want! Just sign them up for whatever interests them most.
