TAPD Makes Arrest for East Street Robberies

KentrellOn Sunday, November 30, 2014 the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department arrested Kentrell Thomas, 19 years old, of Texarkana, for 3 recent robberies that occurred on East Street.

According to TAPD Public Information officer Kristi Mitchell, “The first robbery was reported on November 16th at the Family Dollar located at 900 East Street. During the incident an unknown black male entered into the business while carrying a shotgun and demanded money from the employee. A few days later, on November 21st, the METRO PCS store located in the 800 block of East Street, was robbed by an unknown black male with a shotgun.” Mitchell continues, “Then on November 29th the Family Dollar was again robbed in the same manner of the previous robberies, in that an unknown black male carrying the same shotgun approached the clerk and demanded money before leaving on foot.”

The Texarkana Arkansas Criminal Investigation Division began a vigorous investigation of these crimes in order to capture this suspect before anyone was seriously injured. On Saturday, November 29, 2014, after receiving several phone calls with tips concerning the suspect, a search warrant was obtained and executed at a residence in Texarkana, Arkansas, by members of the Criminal Investigation Division, Special Operations Section and Patrol Division. According to Mitchell several items of evidence were recovered from all three robberies during this process.

Officer Mitchell said the hard work and determination displayed by detectives and officers subsequently led to the identification and arrest of Kentrell Thomas, who turned himself in to police on Sunday, November 30, 2014.

According to MItchell Thomas has been charged with 3 counts of aggravated robbery.
