Even heroes need day jobs. Beginning this fall, the Texarkana College Fire Academy is offering a new Hybrid Fire Academy specifically targeting individuals who feel the need to serve but do not have time for a 5-day per week course.
This new 8-month hybrid academy combines weekly online learning modules with seven weekend skills sessions the student must complete in person at the Fire Academy training facility.
Weekend skill sessions begin at 6 a.m. on Fridays and continue through the weekend, closing at 5 p.m. on Sundays. TC Fire Academy instructors are career firefighters with an average of 19 years of experience, and many are captains or chiefs in their departments.
The TC Fire Academy is authorized as a training facility by the Texas Commission for Fire Protection and the International Fire Services Accreditation Congress. Candidates who complete programs at TC’s Fire Academy are eligible for IFSAC seals which are accepted as proof of training in the majority of US states, Canadian provinces, and a number of other countries.
Requirements to enroll in the Hybrid Fire Academy include: minimum of 18 years of age, high school diploma or GED, a medical examination, and drug screening.
