U.S. Veteran
Richard Wayne Bergt, age 78, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at his residence.
Mr. Bergt was born March 15, 1947 in Texarkana, Texas. He was retired from Cooper Tire, member of the Buchanan Community Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Shirley Bergt and Elizabeth Bergt
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Scott Ellis of Spiro, Oklahoma; one son, Michael Wayne Bergt of Orlando, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Debbie Bergt of Texarkana, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Steve Thornton of Holland Patent, New York and one grandson, Austin Shanley of Ruston, Louisiana.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday January 6, 2026 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to Liberty Eylau Volunteer Fire Department.
