What Is AGI and What Changes Could It Bring to the Online Casino Industry?

Generative AI has helped give artificial intelligence human-like qualities, as searches, for example, don’t require rigid keywords. Instead, AI can interpret what a person is looking for and give them informative, casual responses, just like having a conversation with a knowledgeable person.

But AI lacks many human-like abilities, such as audio perception to interpret tone, visual perception to understand depth and importantly, creative problem-solving. The latter is a great example of the difference between AI and AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).

The hypothetical AGI can take learning experiences from other areas and apply them to new ones while being versatile in finding creative solutions. This essentially envisages artificial intelligence having more human-like abilities instead of operating within confined parameters.

Could AGI Benefit Online Casinos

Because Artificial General Intelligence would be much closer to a human’s cognitive way of thinking and processing information, that could dramatically impact the operation of online casinos.

On the back end, it could be heavily used to detect action and playing patterns deemed as “red-flag” behaviours. That happens now with AI, but AGI could detect things on the fly, even possessing the ability to understand what a player is doing based on their emotions and understanding why certain decisions are being made.

That could lead to a proactive personalised message of support to help the player in that very moment, all down to its more human-like understanding of the gaming process. There are other key areas like fraud detection beyond current patterns, too, as AGI could understand more complex systems.

AI currently works behind the scenes for things like marketing, security checks and financial reporting. By letting AGI handle things, operators could lean on the technology to help them find ways to optimise their game offerings from a financial standpoint and understand how the interface could be tweaked to further boost profits.

What Could it Mean for Users?

AGI could potentially have the capability of detecting patterns of play during the game. This could technically lead to a scenario where the game’s mechanics are adjusted on the fly, based on a player’s batting pattern. It could understand if a player is over-excited, or maybe if play has slowed down, it could kick in animations or features that boost a player’s psychological state to keep them engaged.

How bonus features are presented could also be altered depending on the feedback that the machine gets from the player. That mood-related feedback would allow for a greater personalisation of gaming experiences.

AGI Dealers?

Another interesting thing to think about is that AGI, being more human-based in its processing and learning, means that it could lead to AI table operators, which would work fantastically well with virtual and augmented reality systems.

But that could be taken a step further as well, by having AI opponents at a table for poker or any new game format that involves direct opposition. An AGI non-player character could learn things like how to bluff, what your “tells” are and assess your likely responses. Not only would this change the immersiveness of gaming, but also social interaction as well, because there would then be a very thin veil between human and AI interactions.

Artificial General Intelligence could also be used to run personalised hosts for players, fancier and more intelligent versions of current chatbots. Logging into a site and interacting with a host who “knows” you and understands your preferences enough, could engage with you on a personal level and make things like recommendations for that session.

The Big Upgrade

Any AGI integration into future casino operations would be game-changing as it could be the driving force behind a much more immersive and intuitive gaming experience. The casino operator could lean on it for automated processes, while players could find that games resonate with them a lot more through personalisation.
