Woman Arrested After Bringing Drugs to Sheriff’s Office

According to Bowie County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeffrey Neal, on February 26, 2015 Mary Ann Baker who is 44 years of age of Wake Village, Texas came to the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office to retrieve money from her inmate trust fund account that she had left from a previous visit at the Bowie County Jail. While pulling up Mrs. Baker’s account, Bowie County Inmate Trust Fund employee Tracy Jones noticed that Mrs. Baker had an outstanding child support warrant for her arrest. Mrs. Jones notified Lieutenant David Childers of the situation and he took Mrs. Baker into custody for the warrant.

Mrs. Baker and her purse were later searched as part of her booking process. Around two grams of methamphetamine, 20 prescription pills and three bags of marijuana were found in Mrs. Baker’s purse during this search. She was subsequently charged with Possession of Controlled Substance Over One Gram and Under Four Grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance Under 28 Grams and Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces. Judge Nancy Talley set Mrs. Baker’s bonds at $10,000.00 for Possession of Controlled Substance Over One Gram and Under Four Grams, $3000.00 for Possession of a Controlled Substance Under 28 Grams and $3000.00 for Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.
