Nina Stingley Goldman

February 16, 1941 – September 9, 2026

Nina Stingley Goldman of Texarkana, AR, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. She was born in Texarkana on February 16, 1941, to Alyne and Ford Stingley.

Nina was a quiet and kind woman who found great joy in the simple things in life. She loved nature and cherished her wooded property, taking pride in the beauty and peace that surrounded her. Her home, her neighbors, and the land she cared for were special to her, where she could share the outdoors and enjoy the quiet moments she valued. Nina also enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places.

Nina was an artist throughout her life whose work was uniquely her own. She had a special gift for oil painting and sculpting clay, often creating works centered on the human form. Her artistic style was organic and distinctive, reflecting her own vision and creativity. Over the years, Nina’s work was featured in gallery showings and recognized in magazine and newspaper articles.

Nina graduated from Texas High School, East Texas State University, and George Washington University. She was a lifelong educator, teaching kindergarten and later high school art. In retirement, she became a master gardener and loved spending time with her dog, Bridgette.

Although Nina was quiet by nature, she also knew what she believed. Her honesty and determination were part of what made her uniquely Nina, and those who loved her will remember both her gentle nature and her strong spirit.

Nina leaves behind her son, Ted Smith; daughter-in-law, MK; and granddaughter, Isabelle. She is also survived by her sister, Becky, and her husband, Doug Johnston, as well as nieces and nephews, many friends, and the neighbors who were such an important part of her life. She was predeceased by her brother, James Stingley, and her sister, Nancy Katz.

Nina will be remembered for her quiet kindness, her love of nature and her home, her distinctive and beautiful art, and the unique way she moved through the world. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

There will be a private family gathering in her honor.
