Celia Odell Velasquez, age 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. She was born on July 24, 1950, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Arthur and Marita Marion Hooker.
Celia leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and devotion to her family. She especially cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating and building lasting relationships, treasured memories, and a lifetime of love that will remain with her family forever.
Celia was a member of Christ Church and a faithful member of Downtown First Baptist Church, Texarkana. Before retiring, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. John Gregory, an orthopedist in Texarkana, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marita Marion Hooker.
Celia is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jose Antonio Velasquez; her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Amanda Velasquez of McGehee, Arkansas; her daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Jeff Satterfield of Texarkana, Arkansas; and her seven grandchildren, Harrison Satterfield, Benjamin Brooks, Dillin Anderson, Maddyn Velasquez, Graham Velasquez, Cooper Velasquez, and Parker Velasquez. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Celia will be remembered for her love of family, her faithful heart, and the joy she found in the people she loved. Her memory will live on through the family and friends whose lives she touched and through the many precious memories she leaves behind.
Donations can be made in honor of Celia to the American Cancer Society Gene and Jerry Jones Hope Lodge, 210 North Hall Street, Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 2 PM at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Gibbons officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 3-5 PM at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral Home Chapel.
