Man charged with stealing truck, meter-reading phones from Texarkana Water Utilities
TEXARKANA, Ark. – A 24-year-old man identified by the public from police surveillance images was formally charged Thursday with breaking into Texarkana Water Utilities and stealing a city pickup, three meter-reading phones and a line locator, according to a criminal information filed in Miller County Circuit Court.
Daniel Wayne Polomsky Jr. is charged with commercial burglary and theft of property valued between $5,000 and $25,000, both Class C felonies. Each carries three to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
The information, filed by Deputy Prosecutor Jon Beck for Prosecuting Attorney Connie Mitchell, alleges that on or about Sept. 5 Polomsky entered a Texarkana Water Utilities building with the purpose of committing a crime.
The property taken, according to the filing, included three Android meter-reader cellphones valued at $1,500, a valve tool kit, a large orange box, a line locator valued at about $4,000, a laser valued at about $200, and a white Ford F-150 bearing fleet number 330-15 and valued at more than $5,000, along with vehicle parts and accessories. All of it belonged to the utility, the information says.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department had posted a be-on-the-lookout notice asking the public to identify a man seen in surveillance images wearing a black ski mask, a black tank top, gloves and plaid pajama pants. The department said the community identified him “in record time.”
Investigators developed information on where Polomsky might be and passed it to patrol, the department said in a Facebook post. Officers on the Charlie Squad night shift went to a residence, obtained what they needed to search it and found Polomsky hiding inside, police said.
Court records show the arrest was Sept. 11. At his first appearance Sept. 16, a judge set bond at $20,000 and appointed a public defender.
Police described the charges as commercial burglary and theft of property over $10,000. The information filed Thursday charges the theft in the $5,000-to-$25,000 range.
Polomsky is due back in Miller County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Oct. 13.
Neither the police post nor the court filing says whether the truck and equipment were recovered. No affidavit has been publicly filed in the case.
“All criminal charges are allegations, and Polomsky is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law,” the department said.
