Election Results Special Meeting on Council Agenda

Texarkana, Texas City Council will meet Monday, November 10, at 6:00 p.m. for a regular meeting.

The first notable item on the agenda is a resolution setting a special meeting for Monday, November 17, 2014 to canvass and declare the results of the Local Option and Charter Amendment. This is the first step in the process of beer and wine sales starting in Texarkana, Texas.

After the city makes the election results official Monday, November 17 businesses can submit paper work to the county and TABC and should be able to complete the process in around 45 days.

Resolution No. 2014-133 authorizing and setting a special meeting for Monday, November 17, 2014 to canvass and declare the results of the Local Option and Charter Amendments Special Election held on November 4, 2014 in the City of Texarkana, Texas.

The next resolution will name the new road at Cowhorn Creek to Galleria Oaks and rename a portions of the current Morris Lane to Galleria Oaks.

Resolution No. 2014-125 naming the newly constructed street between Cowhorn Creek Road and Robin Lane to Galleria Oaks Drive and renaming Morris Lane between Robin Lane and Arista Boulevard to Galleria Oaks Drive.

Up for public comment is a resolution allowing the city manager to purchase a new radio system and computer aided dispatch system for public safety use for a price not to exceed nine million dollars. A second briefing is scheduled for November 24, 2014 with a council vote scheduled for December 8, 2014.

Resolution No. 2014-131 authorizing the City Manager to enter into a municipal lease purchase agreement with Motorola Solutions for the purchase and installation of a public safety communications system, to include a computer aided dispatch system and a records management system, through an interlocal agreement with Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) in a total amount not to exceed NINE MILLION AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($9,000,000) and authorizing discontinuance of appropriations for purchasing, leasing, operating, or maintaining the current public safety radio and computer aided dispatching system
