Highway 71 southbound lanes now closed

Highway 71 is once again closed due to being covered by floodwaters from the Red River.

As of 2:00 p.m. Friday 71 is closed and covered by around 6 inches of water just north of the Red River at the weigh station.

The level of the river at 10 a.m. was 26.2 ft.   It is forecast to crest at 26.3 feet later today.


According to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department traffic is being detoured to Hwy. 41. .

Southbound lanes of 71 are now covered in flood water.  They are now closed.  Water is up to the edge of northbound lanes.  http://txktoday.com for the latest updates.
