Manhunt Underway Downtown for Escaped Prisoner

UPDATE: As of 7 p.m. police have called off the search in the downtown area indicating that Rogers has escaped the area.

According to Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department a prisoner has escaped from custody during a Circuit Court Trial at the Miller County Court House at 4th and Laurel street Tuesday afternoon.

According to police he has been identified as Daroyce Rogers, a black male, approximately 31 years of age, 5′ 6″ tall, weight 192 pounds, last seen wearing red pants, flannel shirt, and one shoe. He is reported to be covered in tattoos and has a scare on his face.

His last reported location was in the area of downtown Texarkana in the Union Pacific Railroad yard running from police officers towards Hobo Jungle Park.

Citizens in the downtown area should be on the look out for any suspicious person that would meet this description. Take no action on your own and contact the police department or sheriff office by dialing 911. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available. Police Officers from TAPD/TTPD & MCSO are in the area currently searching for this individual.

According to officials Rogers had just been sentenced to 20 years for a drug charge when he ran from the courtroom.

Authorities have shut down the rail yard while the search is underway. Bowie County Sheriff’s Office is on scene with a dog and a helicopter looking for the escapee.
