New Boston Woman Facing Child Pornography Charges

A New Boston, Texas woman is facing child pornography charges in the Eastern District of Texas Federal Court, according to a criminal complaint.

Haidy Branson, 22, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge, Caroline Craven, Monday.  Craven appointed Texarkana lawyer Jeff Harrelson to represent Branson.

The criminal complaint accuses Branson of possession, production, and distribution of child pornogrpahy.

Possession of child pornography carries a penalty of imprisonment for not more than 20 years and a fine of not more than $250,000.  Production of child pronography carries a pently of imprisonment for not less than 15 years and not more than 30 years and a fine of not more than $250,000.  Distribution of child pornography carries a penalty of no less than 5 years and no more than 20 years imprisonment and a fine of not more than $250,000.

Citing the nature of the crimes that Branson is charged with Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Locker requested that she remain in custody while her case proceeds.

Branson’s case will be presented to a federal grand jury in Tyler, Texas later this month for a formal indictment.
