Fields of Faith, sponsored by Red River Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will be Wednesday, October 9 at Hawk Stadium at Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana. Gates open at 6:15 pm and the program begins at 7:00 pm. Students from surrounding high schools and churches will be in attendance. Last year the event drew nearly 5,000 students.

The first 1,000 students through the gates will receive a free meal from Chicken Express. The evening will include testimonies from various student-athletes and coaches as well as entertainment from recording artists and area drumlines.

On Monday through Wednesday before the event, special speaker Stephen Mackey will speak at various school assemblies around the area to encourage students about character, bullying awareness and other relevant topics.

Bi-racial and born to a teenaged mother, Mackey (as he is better known) beat the odds to become a first-generation college graduate, character development coach, motivational speaker, and most importantly, husband and daddy.

Drawing from his own life story and the stories of people he meets across the country, Mackey has an uncanny ability to authentically connect with his audience through humor, wisdom, and passion, and usher them to the next level of character and performance. Despite the odds being stacked against him, Mackey’s life was changed by the family, coaches and mentors in his life, who challenged him to “Take Responsibility…period!” for his life. This single challenge has fueled everything Mackey has done in his life and is the foundation of his work today.
