Tammy Waters to Host Community Meet and Greet Oct. 17

Texarkana, Ark. – Texarkana mayoral candidate Tammy Waters will host a community meet and greet Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Terry Lee Rogers Recreation Center, 1 Legion Drive in Texarkana, Arkansas.

The come-and-go event will give residents an opportunity to meet Waters, hear more about her vision for Texarkana and share their own thoughts about the community and its future. Light refreshments will be served.

Waters said listening to residents and bringing people together are central to both her campaign and the kind of mayor she hopes to be.

“Throughout my career, I’ve learned that people want to know their voice is being heard, that it matters and that they are part of something moving forward,” Waters said. “I don’t pretend to have every answer, but I do know how to listen, bring the right people to the table and work toward solutions.”

Waters, a 35-year communications, government relations and public affairs professional, has lived in Texarkana for more than 24 years. She said she believes the city has tremendous potential and that her focus as mayor would be on building relationships, encouraging collaboration and bringing people with different perspectives together around shared goals.

“I’m not running because I think Texarkana is broken,” Waters said. “I’m running because I believe Texarkana has tremendous potential. We have incredible people, hardworking families, businesses that want to grow and organizations doing great work. We have an opportunity to bring those pieces together and build on what is already good.”

Waters encourages residents to stop by the Oct. 17 event at any time between 9 and 11 a.m. to visit, ask questions and share what they would like to see for Texarkana’s future.
