After 18 years, popular Texarkana nightclub, The Electric Cowboy, will close its doors for good and bid farewell to the “Twice as Nice” town, with one last dance.
Located on E. Broad Street, The Electric Cowboy, opened its doors every week and created an atmosphere where people could enjoy themselves surrounded by good music and friends.
The Electric Cowboy otherwise known by locals as “The Cowboy” for short, brought country music, two-stepping and a rocking good time to Texarkana for nearly 20 years, beginning in November 1998.
“For 18 years we tried to provide an escape for people to enjoy themselves. A place where they could come have fun and forget the stress. It’s been a good run,” explained General Manager for Electric Cowboy- Texarkana.
After what staff calls a “rough summer,” The Electric Cowboy experienced a drop in attendance, causing them financial struggle and consequently leading to them to close the doors.
“This past year has been a struggle. It’s been a hard summer, and at some point you just have to pull the plug. It’s a business decision, nothing more,” explained General Manager.
The Electric Cowboy’s last night in business will be Saturday, November 5th – a night the staff describes will be “anything but regular.”
“We have four bartenders working for us, but we are having a few friends come from out of town to help out. We expect it to be a great turnout and a busy night,” explained managerial staff.
Saturday night, The Electric Cowboy will take its final bow the best way they know how, with an entertaining time!
“It’ll be a great last night. I want Texarkana to know how much we appreciate their support and business throughout the years. We are tremendously grateful,” said General Manager.
Administrators explained The Electric Cowboy says goodbye for now, but there’s something in the works for the future.
