Texarkana Water Utilities Executive Director will retire in October

Bill King, Executive Director of Texarkana Water Utilities has tendered his resignation to Texarkana City Managers John Whitson and Kenny Haskin effective Friday, October 2, 2015.

“I believe that many improvements have been implemented and much has been accomplished during my tenure,” King said. “My cardiologist recommended I retire over a year ago, and I have a third grandchild due to arrive in October. Although there will always be more improvements to be made and projects to complete, it is time for me to devote my time, attention and energies to my family.”

City of Texarkana, Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman wishes King well in his retirement.

“I want to thank Mr. King for his many years of service with the water utilities. Overseeing the delivery of water and sewer services to our citizens is a major responsibility. Mr. King has been instrumental in implementing improvements to the water and sewer systems over the years.”

Arkansas Mayor Ruth Penney-Bell appreciates all that King has accomplished since being hired to work at TWU in 1988.

“We will miss Mr. King’s leadership and his dedication to keeping both cities informed about the operations of TWU,” Bell said. “He has served as the competent and professional head of Texarkana Water Utilities for 24 years and much has been accomplished during his tenure.”

The two city managers will meet this month to determine the next steps
