November 13, 2014 | Local children will premiere their rendition of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox tonight at 7 pm in Silvermoon Children’s Theatre. “This is a fantastic show to be enjoyed by kids of all ages.” – The Coventry Telegraph.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox is the literary selection for Silvermoon Children’s Theater this year. I love Roald Dahl who wrote other things like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. This is just a great whimsical animal tale that is simple and easy to enjoy,” stated Executive Director Susannah Morriss Linnett.
If you cannot make it out tonight, then you will have an opportunity to come support your local children’s theatre:
- Thursday, November 13th at 7pm
- Friday, November 14th at 5pm and 7pm
- Saturday, November 15th at 2pm and 5pm
The plot is described as:
Roald Dahl’s much-loved story follows the vain attempts of three farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean, one fat, one short, one lean, to get rid of the fox who regularly steals food from their farms.
They try to kill him by any means possible. Outwitted at every turn, the farmer’s ploys backfire. Fantastic Mr. Fox devises a plan which will ensure full stomachs for not only his family, but all his friends, who celebrate with a sumptuous feast.
Preparations for this play started several months ago. “We had auditions in mid-August and rehearsals began in September 2014,” stated Executive Director Susannah Morriss Linnett.
The show is expected to have elaborate costumes as well. “We had to dress animals. We personified the animals. They are ‘proper English’ dressed suit coats, ties, skirts, pinafores and aprons. We do have ears and tails to bring out the animals a bit more,” stated Linnett.
The kids performing will range in age from 7 to 14 years of age:
