U of A Texarkana Professions Building Ribbon Cutting

The University of Arkansas Texarkana has completed the construction project of its new Professions Building and hosted the grand opening of this new state of the art building located at 3501 U of A Way in Texarkana, Arkansas.

U of A Texarkana had its first class in Aug. 2012, and since then has focused on making strides to expand the programs offered, in order to meet the growing needs of the student population, as well as workforce training.

In order to allow a continuing growth and being able to add of new programs of study, U of A Texarkana expanded by adding a 3 story, 20,000 square foot educational structure. This building is uniquely designed to accommodate the addition of Health Professions with a fully functional simulation lab as well as Technical and Industrial programs which have been requested by students and industry partners in the region.

This grand opening consisted of a tour of the building and the ribbon cutting completed by the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce.

The event took place Wednesday morning welcoming special guests such as; Texarkana Mayor Ruth Penney-Bell, Chancellor Chris Thomason, U of A Trustee John Goodson, J.D., State Senator Jimmy Hickey, 4th District Congressman Bruce Western, and U of A System resident Donald R. Bobbitt.
