Gary Edwin Duffey, 69, entered Heaven peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, under the care of UT Southwestern, with his beloved wife, Karen, by his side.
Gary was born on May 26, 1957, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Paschall Edwin Duffey and Vee Edna Duffey. A lifelong resident of Texarkana, Gary was deeply rooted in the community he loved. He was a member and founder of Heritage Church, where his faith and love for others were an important part of his life.
Gary dedicated much of his professional life to the industry he loved. He played a vital role in John Rigby & Co’s growth across the United States, building lasting relationships with customers, dealers, and industry partners while representing the brand with dedication, professionalism, and genuine passion. The relationships he built throughout his career were a reflection of who Gary was. A person who valued people, gave his best, and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
Outside of his career, Gary had a deep love for hunting and the outdoors. Hunting was more than just a pastime for him, it was something he truly enjoyed and was passionate about. One of his favorites was hunting cape buffalo. He was also known for his incredible shooting ability. Any gun he handled he would put a shot right on the bullseye. His skill, confidence, and love of hunting were a special part of him.
Gary was a devoted husband, father, Pappaw, brother, and friend. His family was incredibly important to him, and his greatest legacy will be found not only in his professional accomplishments, but in the love he gave and the lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paschall and Vee Edna Duffey; his beloved sister, Nancy Whitehead; sister-in-law June Beaty; his brother, Mack Duffey; grandson, Garrison Duffey; nephew, Nathan Beaty.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Karen Duffey; his children, Lindsey Young (Kristopher) and Graham Duffey; stepchildren, Madeline, Kait, and Paul Mote; grandsons, Gage Duffey and Sawyer Young; brother, Michael Beaty; brother-in-law, Sherrell Whitehead; beloved nieces and nephews, Cheryl Mills (Connie), Julie Westmorland, Joey Whitehead, and Lisa Childress, and (Mike) Evan Beaty.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His memory will live on through the people he loved, the relationships he built, the adventures he shared, and the legacy of faith, family, friendship, and passion that he leaves behind.
Though his family will forever feel the loss of his presence, they can find comfort in knowing that Gary is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, and that the memories they shared with him will remain in their hearts forever.
