Marvin Ray Couch, Sr., age 87, of Maud, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026. He was born on April 28, 1939, in Delight, Arkansas, to his parents, James Oscar “J.O.” and Sylvia Couch.

Marvin honorably served in the United States Army, completing two tours of duty and serving during the Korean War. During his military service, he became a Master Mechanic, a skill that remained an important part of his life and career. He later shared his knowledge and expertise by teaching small engine and automotive classes at the high school level. He also worked as a wholesale car dealer in the Texarkana area. A true “Mr. Do-It-All,” Marvin could build a home, repair plumbing, fix just about anything, and never hesitated to lend his skills to others.

Outside of work, some of Marvin’s greatest joys came from spending time with his children. He loved taking them fishing, hunting, and camping and creating lasting memories. His faith was the foundation of his life; he loved sharing his testimony and talking about Scripture. He was prepared to meet his Lord and Savior, looked forward to his eternal home in Heaven, and faced the end of his earthly life without fear.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Sue Couch; his daughter, Bonnie Jean Couch; his parents, JO and Sylvia Couch; grandson, Mark Adams, Jr.; one sister, Maxine Aaron; and one brother, James E. Couch.

He is survived by his children, Mary Osteen of Maud, TX; Sandy Taylor of Maud, TX; Marvin R. Couch, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Barrett; and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, with Bro. Augustine Alaniz officiating at Texarkana Funeral Home – Texas.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.
