Pierce Hensley Purifoy, age 88, was born on September 22, 1937, to Mark and Merle Purifoy and passed away on June 21, 2026. He was the third son born into the family and spent his early years in the Holly Springs Community of Miller County, Arkansas. Pierce was a longtime resident of Fouke, Arkansas, where he built a life centered on family and faith.
Following his college education, Pierce worked for the New Mexico Highway Department, McCulloch Tool Company in New Iberia, Louisiana, and Day & Zimmerman. He later became the owner of Purifoy Building Company. In his later years, he served as an independent agent for Farmers Insurance in Fouke, Arkansas.
Pierce attended Holly Springs Community Church and cherished spending time outdoors. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Niorbra Sue Moody Purifoy.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chris Purifoy and wife Gina of Fouke, Arkansas; his daughter, Lesa Purifoy of Fouke, Arkansas; two grandsons, Mark Purifoy and Dylan Purifoy; one great-granddaughter, Allie Purifoy; one sister, Judy Bryant of Genoa, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, and his faithful Border Collie, Patch
Funeral services will be held at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Frank McFerrin officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
