Police chase ends in two-motorcycle crash at State Line and Texas Boulevard

TEXARKANA, Texas — A motorcyclist fleeing a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was critically injured early Saturday when he crashed into another motorcycle at the intersection of North State Line Avenue and Texas Boulevard, according to emergency radio traffic.

The rider of the second motorcycle suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

A Texarkana, Arkansas, police unit reported the wreck at about 12:53 a.m., telling other units that a DPS trooper had been pursuing a motorcycle southbound on State Line Avenue when it crashed at Texas Boulevard.

Texarkana Fire Department’s Tower 1 arrived at about 12:57 a.m., found one rider down and established “State Line Command.” LifeNet medics were diverted from a patient transfer to respond, and a second ambulance was sent to the intersection.

LifeNet called in a Level 1 trauma alert to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System for a male motorcyclist with head trauma who had not been wearing a helmet.

State Line Avenue remained closed Saturday morning while Arkansas State Police investigated the crash.

The names of the riders were not immediately released.
