City of Texarkana, Texas Finance Department awarded GFOA Triple Crown

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has named the City of Texarkana, Texas as a Triple Crown Winner. GFOA’s Triple Crown designation recognizes governments that have received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, a Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. Texarkana is one of just 441 governments that received the Triple Crown this year.

Chief Financial Officer Kristin Peeples said the recognition reflects the Finance Department’s continued commitment to transparency and responsible stewardship of public funds.

“Receiving the Triple Crown is a tremendous honor for our Finance Department and a reflection of the high standards our team works to uphold every day,” said Peeples. “Our goal is to provide clear, accurate and accessible financial information so our residents can understand how their tax dollars are being managed. To be recognized nationally across all three areas of financial reporting is something our entire team can be proud of.”

The Triple Crown designation represents a significant achievement. To qualify, each entity must meet the high standards of all three separate award programs, each recognizing governments that produce reports that communicate their financial stories transparently and meet applicable standards.

City Manager David Orr said earning all three distinctions reinforces the City’s commitment to maintaining strong financial practices and holding itself to nationally recognized standards.

“We want to congratulate CFO Kristin Peeples and her team for their exceptional work and leadership in reaching this milestone,” said Orr. “More than just an award, this accomplishment demonstrates that we are benchmarking our financial reporting practices against the very best in the nation.”
