Mineral Springs man killed in early-morning Howard County crash

A 26-year-old Mineral Springs man died early Saturday morning when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and overturned in rural Howard County, according to a preliminary fatal crash report from the Arkansas State Police.

William E. Dixon III was driving a 2019 Can-Am northbound on Schaal Road when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned multiple times, the report states. The crash happened at approximately 4:55 a.m. on Aug. 15.

Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Troopers noted the weather was clear and the road surface was dry at the time of the crash.

Dixon’s body was taken to the Howard County coroner, and his next of kin have been notified. Trooper Zane Butler is investigating the crash for the Arkansas State Police.

According to preliminary Arkansas State Police figures, Dixon’s death marks the 280th traffic fatality on Arkansas roads in 2026.
