Tunnel 2 Towers Steel Across America Makes Visit to Texarkana

The City of Texarkana, Texas will welcome the Tunnel to Towers Foundation on their Steel Across America tour on Wednesday, June 3rd, at 11:00 am at the U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, 500 N Stateline Ave. 

 

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced their historic to commemorate and honor those who sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001. The truck, which was specially made locally by Ledwell Manufacturing, will feature a steel beam recovered from the rubble of the World Trade Center, reaffirming the promise America made to Never Forget.

Steel Across America was officially launched on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, near Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan. Across more than 10,500 miles, the steel will make more than 35 stops in 21 states and Washington, D.C., visiting landmark locations, community gathering places, town squares, and major sporting events nationwide before culminating in its return to Ground Zero on September 11th on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

 

Chief Chris Black speaks to how special it is to be a part of the historic route.

 

“We are extremely honored to be a stop on this nationwide tour and proud to host them in downtown Texarkana, USA,” said Black. “The mission behind these stops is to keep our promise to fellow first responders that we will never forget how they gave their lives to save others. 

The community is invited to attend their visit downtown and join our local first responders in honoring those who lost their lives. The exhibit will be open to the public and food will be grilled by retired FDNY members, Grill Team 6.
