A 71-year-old New Boston, Texas, man is facing charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teen girl.

John Markus Littleton appeared Monday before 202nd District Judge John Tidwell for a pre-indictment hearing with a member of the Bowie County Public Defenders Office. Littleton was arrested in April for allegedly giving a girl cash and drugs in exchange for sex.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Littleton met the girl while she was staying at the home of a woman who lived in Texarkana, Ark., where other teen girls lived also. The girl reported that Littleton picked her up from the woman’s home on multiple occasions and had sex with her at the Budget Inn on South Lake Drive in Texarkana, Texas.

Credit cards receipts allegedly show Littleton rented rooms at the Budget Inn on May 27, 2014; June 21, 2014; June 27, 2014; July 17, 2014; Aug. 3, 2014, and Sept. 7, 2014. The teen identified in the affidavit as “victim #1” allegedly said Littleton gave her cash and methamphetamine after sexual encounters.

Photos on a phone the girl provided to a Special Agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety allegedly show the girl was at Littleton’s home in New Boston in 2015 and that Littleton and the girl had hundreds of contacts via telephone that year.

A girl identified in the affidavit as “victim #2” allegedly gave investigators accounts of sexual abuse similar to those provided by the first alleged victim which occurred when she was 15.

At Monday’s court appearance, Tidwell ordered that Littleton be outfitted with a GPS leg monitor and told him he is not to leave Bowie County under any circumstances. Tidwell scheduled Littleton to return to court next month.

Littleton’s case has not been presented to a Bowie County grand jury for formal indictment thus far. Littleton is currently free on bond.
