TEXARKANA, Texas – A 16-year-old juvenile has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal incident on North Park Road that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy last week.

The Texarkana Police Department announced Monday that the 16-year-old was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on Friday. He has been charged with Burglary of a Habitation for his role in the events that unfolded on the morning of December 31, 2025.

The investigation began early New Year’s Eve when police responded to a disturbance on North Park Road around 4:20 a.m. According to initial reports, a homeowner confronted two individuals who were allegedly breaking into a vehicle.

During the confrontation, shots were fired, striking the 15-year-old. That individual was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Authorities struggled initially to identify the deceased teen, issuing a public plea on December 31 for help identifying a “Black male believed to be around 15 years old.” By New Year’s Day, detectives confirmed the young man’s identity.

Police revealed that the deceased was 15 years old and was visiting Texarkana from out of town at the time of the incident. His identity has been withheld due to his age, but his family has been notified.

Police will forward their findings to the Bowie County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine if charges should be filed in connection with the shooting.
