The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Political Science Club will sponsor a Voter Information and Registration Fair Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in celebration of Constitution Day. The public is invited.

The Voter Information and Registration Fair is a civic education event providing community members the chance to learn first-hand about elected offices, voter registration and voting.

Big Jake’s Bar-B-Que will have a tent set up outside the University Center building serving lunch, which will include a free souvenir cup.

In Eagle Lounge in the University Center, regional public officials and elections administrators will be available to answer questions and provide information about holding public office, registering to vote, and voting on Election Day.

Visitors also will find Arkansas and Texas voter registration forms and free pocket U.S. Constitutions. Students will hold a random drawing for prizes around 2 p.m.

The Voter Information and Registration Fair is part of “Texarkana Votes,” a student-driven community-wide initiative that encourages people living throughout the region to register to vote, learn about candidates and issues, vote on Election Day Nov. 8 and evaluate the results.

Constitution Day is a federal holiday marking the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.
