Atlanta, Texas man killed in fiery tanker truck crash

An Atlanta, Texas man was killed Sunday night in a fiery wreck just north of the Sulphur River on U.S. Highway 59.

According to a Texas DPS fatal crash report 52-year-old Andrew Clemenson was traveling north in a tanker truck on US-59 when 41-year-old Billy Ray Howard of Texarkana, Ark. pulled out in front of him from Park Road.

According to the report Clemenson was pronounced dead on scene at 10:36 p.m. his body was taken to the medical examiner in Dallas. Howard was transported to Wadley and is in serious condition with incapacitating injuries.

Traffic on Highway 59 was closed in both directions all night. Southbound traffic is still being rerouted from US-59 from Texarkana onto FM 2148 to US-67 and then to SH-8 in Maud, Texas.

Liberty Eylau, C-5, Redwater, and Wake Village Volunteer Fire Departments all responded the scene.

No charges have been filed but the investigation continues.
