Police Release New Details in Pine Street SWAT Standoff
Texarkana, Texas Police said Kelvin Thomas Jones was taken into custody without incident after a SWAT standoff at a home in the 1300 block of Pine Street.
Update: Texarkana, Texas Police have released new details about the Monday night SWAT standoff that shut down the area of Pine Street at 13th Street.
Around 7:45 p.m., Officers Jacob Miramontes and Macy Huddle spotted Kelvin Thomas Jones, 40, driving a Chevrolet Tahoe on W. 14th Street, according to Texarkana, Texas Police. Officers knew Jones had several felony warrants and attempted to stop him.

Police said Jones drove to his house in the 1300 block of Pine Street, jumped out of the Tahoe and ran inside with officers behind him. He slammed the door before officers could reach him and used his body weight to hold it closed. Police said he then dragged a refrigerator in front of the door and later added a sofa.
Despite repeated commands to come outside, Jones stayed inside the home. Because he was wanted on several felony warrants and was listed in NCIC as likely armed and dangerous, the SWAT Team was called in to safely resolve the situation, according to police.

As SWAT officers surrounded the house, negotiators established contact with Jones. He walked out the front door around 10:00 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident.
Police said officers later inventoried the Tahoe before it was impounded and found methamphetamine and marijuana inside.
Jones was booked into the Bi-State Jail on the following charges and warrants:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Marijuana
- Arkansas Parole Violation warrant
- Texas Parole Violation warrant
- Probation Violation warrant
- Evading Arrest/Detention warrant
- Three Texarkana Texas Municipal Court warrants
