New this year, to the list of Bowl activities, will be a LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL 5K run and golf tournament. The golf tournament will be held at New Haven Golf Course on Friday, December 5 starting at 10am with the 5K run starting at 8am on Saturday, Dec. 6th. Additional details as well as registration for both events are located on the texarkanabowl.com website.

With the initial announcement made last year in 2013 that Texarkana had been selected to host the nation’s third Division II bowl game, the excitement continues today with the revealing of the two teams to compete in 2014. The LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL chairman, Allen Brown, announced that in this year’s game, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma will go head to head with the University of Central Missouri of Warrensburg, Missouri in the second annual LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL. Southeastern Oklahoma State will represent the Great American Conference while Central Missouri will represent the Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Razorback Stadium. The LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL will always have the home team from the Great American Conference (GAC) and a regional Division II opponent. “We are extremely pleased to have Southeastern Oklahoma State University represent GAC in this year’s game,” said Will Prewitt, Commissioner of GAC.

“Post-season opportunities in football are desired for our MIAA schools. With the great depth of quality football programs we have, the NCAA playoff structure just does not allow all of our deserving teams the space to participate. We are excited that the LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL has provided an opportunity for one of our fine programs to have a memorable post-season experience for their student-athletes,” says Bob Boerigter, MIAA Commissioner.

“The response from Texarkana and the surrounding communities has been overwhelming,” stated Brown, chairman of the LIVE UNITED TEXARKANA BOWL. “We have a dedicated group of individuals who are committed to making this a spectacular and outstanding event for all involved.”

Corporate sponsors are still being accepted. Any net profit will benefit the United Way of Greater Texarkana. All donations will be tax deductible through the United Way of Greater Texarkana.
