Many Opportunities to Help Out Randy Sams’ Homeless Shelter

Sponsor

Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter has teamed up with a plethora of businesses in town to receive donations in many unique ways. As the temperatures drop, our numbers seeking shelter climb as do our expenses with increased utility costs, food costs and non-food needs. We operate entirely on donations and grants and grant funding has dwindled through the years.

The Shelter’s services are crucial to so many in our area. The number of people seeking shelter is rising and our income has decreased substantially. Without the community’s support, we will not be able to provide the services so many desperately need.

In Texarkana there are literally hundreds of people without a place to call home. We are grateful to be able to provide a temporary refuge for many as they work to rebuild. In 2014 more than 120 people have moved out of the Shelter into permanent housing and many more have made huge strides toward their goals. Our shelter is the only free shelter of our size for adult men and women in an 85-mile radius, and the only emergency shelter in Bowie County. As the temperatures drop, our numbers seeking shelter climb as do our expenses with increased utility costs, food costs and non-food needs. We operate entirely on donations and grants and grant funding has dwindled through the years.
