Forecasts indicate that Highway 71 could be in danger of closing again early next week due to flooding caused by the Red River.

According to the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service the river is forecast to reach 26.5 ft. by late Monday.  Highway 71 was closed on May 29 when the river reached just under 27 ft.

Heavy rainfall across the red river basin has the river on the rise again just weeks after record high water levels.

Lake Texoma is once again topping Denison Dam with the lake currently 100.5 percent full and rising.

U.S. Route 259 remains closed at the river due to damage done by the previous round of flooding.  With the river forecast to reach 31.5 ft by Monday 259 will likely remain closed through the end of June.
