Texarkana Therapy Center opens doors to new facility

Texarkana Therapy Center formally known as Fountain Therapeutic Center, opened the doors to their new facility on November 21st.

This new, state-of-the-art establishment added square feet to a place where children of all ages can receive speech, occupational and physical therapy in a fun and engaging environment – by staff who dedicates themselves to assuring each patient and their family receives the services they need.

Inside this new building, children with Autism, Dyslexia, Cochlear Implants, Orthopedic injuries and a wide range of other conditions are able to receive therapy in rooms specifically designed for their needs.

The gyms inside the facility feature activities such as zip lining, rock climbing, swinging, and a room with black light and UV reactive paint, places to crawl, jump, and hide – each place created to keep each child occupied and interested while still receiving vital treatment.

“We just opened up this past week and the response has been unbelievable from the community and children. They are so excited to come here,” said Dorie Pearson, Registered Occupational Therapist and partial owner of Fountain Therapeutic Center.

Texarkana Therapy Center is owned by Darla Fountain, Dorie Pearson and Ben Smith.

Darla Fountain is a Speech-Language Pathologist who obtained her Master’s degree from Lamar University in 1987. Fountain and her staff conduct evaluations and customize treatment programs to improve communication disorders such as articulation, language, hearing loss, cochlear implant, stuttering, voice, autism, swallowing, and social interaction.

Dorie Pearson is a Registered Occupational Therapist who has served children in the Texarkana area for the past 26 years in a variety of settings. She obtained her degree from University of Central Arkansas in 1990. She has vast experience in evaluating and treating children with developmental, physical, and mental disabilities. She and her therapists serve children in this center who have autism, learning disabilities, sensory processing disorders, etc.

Ben Smith is a Physical Therapist who has served all ages in the Texarkana area. He obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of Central Arkansas. Smith provides evaluations, family training/education, and kid centered treatment plans for orthopedics, autism, decreased balance/coordination, cerebral palsy, postural issues, delayed motor milestones such as crawling, walking, etc.

Fountain Therapeutic Center will hosting their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new facility on Friday, December 1st from 4:30 – 7 p.m. As a gift to their patients and the community, they will be giving everyone that attends photos taken with Santa. You won’t want to miss this event!
