This year, we’re reviewing the top 30 articles of 2015. Here’s the first of three countdown posts this week.

30. Man Cuts Convenience Store Clerks Neck in Robbery Attempt (21,300 views)

According to Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. they received an alarm call at the Stop and Shop Convenience Store located at 1804 East 9th Street. Upon arrival officers located two store employees with lacerations and bleeding heavily.   Both victims were transported by LifeNet for medical attention.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, 24 year old David Clark, entered the store and proceeded to the counter with several items.  The store employee began to ring up the items in the register when Clark reached over the counter and cut the employees neck with a sharp object, causing a large laceration.  At this time Clark ran behind the counter and cut the second employee as well.  Clark then went to the register and attempted to open it but was unsuccessful.  Clark then fled the business on foot. Clark was arrested nearby a short time later.  

29. Oversized Load moves through Texarkana (21,500 views)

On the night of June 21 an oversize load moved through Texarkana heading to the Domtar plant in Ashdown, Ark. The load took all night to move through town due to having to remove traffic lights and power cables for the load to clear.

28. TAPD inmate found dead in Bi-State Jail (21,500 views)

A Texarkana, Arkansas Jail inmate was found early in the morning on July 22 in Bi-State jail, according to a press release by Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department.

According to the Texarkana Police Department they were notified at approximately 6:30am by jail staff that TAPD inmate, Michael Sabbie, was found in his cell unresponsive by corrections personnel.

 

27. Fatal accident at 40th and Texas Blvd. (21,600 views)
36-year-old Carlos Henderson of Texarkana, Ark. was killed in a traffic accident on Texas Blvd. at 40th St. on Dec. 3, 2015.

According to police the investigators determined that Henderson was traveling southbound in the outside lane of Texas Boulevard at a high rate of speed on a 2006 Honda motorcycle. He failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of West 40th Street and struck the right side of a 1998 Ford Expedition, driven by Billy Crutchfield of Texarkana, Texas, as it was making a left turn. According to several witnesses, Crutchfield had a protected green arrow turn light.

26. BCSO arrest two after 24 dead dogs found in kennels (21,700 views)

A Maud, Texas couple on whose property 24 dead dogs were discovered in September, received misdemeanor probation Nov. 30.

Roy Crow, 62, and Kelly Crow, 49, were charged with misdemeanor cruelty to a non-livestock animal after Bowie County sheriff’s deputies found 24 dogs in different stages of decomposition in kennels on the couple’s property in Maud Sept. 8. A dog found alive was taken to a veterinarian for treatment but died the following day, according to Bowie County Sheriff’s Office.

The Crows appeared before County Court at Law Judge Jeff Addison Nov. 30. Each received an 18-month term of deferred adjudication probation. Deferred adjudication allows offenders who successfully finish probation to avoid a conviction on their criminal record.

Roy Crow and Kelly Crow were both ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, $232 in court costs, a $15 Crime Stoppers fee, $60 monthly in supervision fees and were ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

25. Husband and wife accused of sexually abusing children (21,800 views)

A Miller County couple is facing multiple child sex abuse charges in Miller County.

Prosecutors formally charged Sarah Walker, 28, with two counts of rape, and single counts of fourth degree sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child earlier this month. Michael Walker, 31, hasn’t been formally charged yet by prosecutors but he was arrested Sept. 22 on charges of rape and sexual indecency with a child.

Sarah Walker was arrested Aug. 26. The charges against her concern two boys, ages 10 and 15, one of whom is a relative of Michael Walker. That boy was allegedly molested by Michael Walker repeatedly beginning when the boy was five, a probable cause affidavit states.

24. Police warn of credit card skimmers on gas pumps in Texarkana area (21,800 views)

In June Texarkana, Texas Police warned citizens that credit card skimmers had recently been found to be used on some gas pumps in the Texarkana area.

Skimmers are small devices installed over the credit card reader to steal credit and debit-card information from cards used at the pump. Once you use the fake card reader, the suspects then easily clone your information onto fake cards, which are used at local businesses.

Police say typically, the skimmer is not left on the pump for long before it is moved to another location.

23. Shooting at Silver Star Smokehouse(22,100 views)

Two people suffered gunshot wounds following a brief fist fight in the parking lot of Silver Star Smokehouse on Sept. 23. The shooter was arrested at the scene.

Texarkana, Texas Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the parking lot of the Silver Star Smokehouse at 5205 W. Park Blvd. Two people suffered gunshot wounds following a brief fist fight. The shooter was arrested at the scene.

At approximately 6:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting at the restaurant. When officers arrived, they found two subjects who had been shot on the parking lot.

Police say their investigation has determined that a group of five people were inside the restaurant. After two men came inside that they knew, the group decided to leave before there was a problem. A few minutes later, the two men followed the group outside and confronted them on the parking lot. After a brief fist fight, Patrick Clifton Jordan, 22, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma pulled out a small caliber pistol and fired multiple shots. Summer Varley, 21, and Jordan Royal, 21, both of Texarkana Texas, suffered single gunshot wounds. They were both transported to local hospitals for treatment.

22. FBI and U.S. Marshals Service make arrest on Lake Drive (22,300 views)

Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshal Service agents made an arrest on Lake Drive after a short chase on the evening of July 23.

Texarkana, Texas Police and Bowie County Sheriff’s Office were alerted around 7:45 p.m. that U.S. Marshals were pursuing a red Nissan Maxima on Buchanan Loop road for the FBI. After about 5 minutes officers were informed that the suspect vehicle was stopped at the Nu-Way on Lake Drive and Buchanan Rd.

FBI agents on scene had no comment on who was taken into custody.

21. Head-on Crash on Buchanan Loop Road Kills Both Drivers (22,800 views)

On Feb.4 a wreck on Buchanan Loop Rd. claimed the life of two people. David Dale Kenne, 22 of Queen City, Texas and Curtis Wendell Lawrence, 51 of Texarkana, Texas were both killed in the wreck.
