The Department of Radiation Oncology with the W. Temple Webber Cancer Center at CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System recently welcomed, Omar Ishaq, M.D., Radiation Oncologist.
Dr. Ishaq received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine followed by an internship in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He completed his residency in radiation oncology with the New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Ishaq has experience across a wide range of treatment modalities including HDR (high dose rate) brachytherapy and stereotactic radiotherapy. He has participated in clinical trials and research that have been featured in the Wall Street Journal and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
In addition, the W. Temple Webber Cancer Center will be enhancing treatment modalities by offering the region’s most advanced Linear Accelerator with rapid-arc technology this winter. The TrueBeam® system is an advanced medical linear accelerator—or radiotherapy and radiosurgery treatment system—capable of fast and precise image-guided radiotherapy.
This technology was engineered to deliver high doses with tremendous accuracy, narrowly targeting tumors and minimizing exposure of the surrounding healthy tissues and organs.
