TXK Today has compiled a list to pay tribute to the successful women of Texarkana’s community. We shift the spotlight towards women whose power in business affairs has been acquired from a combination of community influence, personal and professional success, and the capability of demonstrating triumph and personal growth. These women embody success, beauty, responsibility, and dedication; truly defining what it means to pursue one’s dreams, achieve professional success, while still being actively involved in community and family affairs. The women of this community have without a doubt left a mark on every person they come in contact with professionally and in their personal lives, and in a larger scale, Texarkana as a whole.

Century 21 All Points Realty
3209 Richmond Rd, Texarkana, TX 75503
(903) 748-5383
janetwillisc21@gmail.com
www.WelcomeHomeTexarkana.com

Janet Willis was founder and owner of Dance, Etc. for 28 years, where she had the pleasure of watching little wobbly legs grow into ones that soar across a stage. She taught ballet, tap, jazz and a football team on occasion! After closing that chapter of her life, she quickly discovered that she could not stay off her toes—so she became a Realtor. She began her career in Real Estate in 2010 and currently serves as Broker at Century 21 All Points Realty. Janet says “It is a real joy to be part of a family first business environment, which I believe makes us so great at caring for yours.  It’s not just about empowering ourselves as Realtors; it’s about empowering our clients to achieve what is most important to them—be it a first home, a larger home for an expanding family, or one that’s closer to a new job or school.” Janet wears many hats in her profession, but the most important roles in her life by far are wife and mother.  What she’s found to be the most rewarding is the realization that she doesn’t have to take off one hat to put on another.  When she’s not in the office, you’ll likely find her at the ball field cheering on her teenage son; and just last year, she got a taste of balancing work along with planning a wedding for her daughter and serving as President of the Texarkana Board of Realtors. Needless to say, Janet Willis still very much on her toes! She says, “I am still amazed at the parallels between my real estate career and my years as a Dance Teacher.  Each day, I am given opportunities to nurture my clients—teach them, lead them, encourage them, and celebrate with them when they’ve reached their goals. It is truly a blessing that I don’t take for granted. ”

Diana wanted to do everything possible in order to help people and relieve the stress of paying bills while struggling to battle cancer. In 2012, Pink Ride was turned into a 501(c)3 non profit organization to help pay medical bills for men, women, and children who have cancer, Pink Ride pays the bills directly to the providers. By helping patients in need, our goal is to continue to give back to the community by forwarding them the opportunity to pay other bills and purchase goods in order to keep our locals in business. Diana says, “There’s not one person that has not been impacted in some way by cancer and I and my committee will do whatever we can to help make the struggle easier to deal with.” This year will be the sixth year Pink Ride will be taking place in Downtown Front street, beginning March 25th with the Pink Ball at the Arkansas Elks Lodge on Garland at 6pm. Saturday, March 26th day event will consist of the ride, vendors, and live local bands featuring Jawbone and Teazur and lots of other festivities, all day downtown. Leslie makes all of her own products, with high quality natural ingredients, in the back room of her store. While her favorite product to make is soap, she also makes body butter, bath fizzies, sugar scrub, lip balm and more. “The best part about my job is testing all of my products on myself!’ she says. Leslie  is excited about bringing something new to LillaSyster Soap Co. soon. “For years, customers have asked if they could have a Girl’s Night Out or a birthday party and make bath and body products at my store. I am currently in the planning stages, but hopefully by next month I will be able to finally start offering this.” Customers don’t have to have a party to come and make products. Leslie will also have nights where anyone can come by themselves or with a friend and make anything from soap and fizzies, to eye shadow and nail polish. Leslie is married to Tor, a native of Sweden. Her husband helped her come up with the name for her store. LillaSyster is Swedish for little sister and Leslie is the youngest of three girls. They have a son, Alexander, a senior at Texas High, as well as a very spoiled cat, Freja. When she isn’t creating at work, Leslie creates at home by sewing, crocheting and writing. And when she isn’t being crafty, she loves to travel with her family or curl up with a good book and a cup of Chai.

Samantha Morgan of DeKalb, Texas opened Little Rascals Day Care of New Boston, Texas in May of 2005 at the age of 23. She has also been the office manager for the past three years for Dr. Charles E. Hollingsworth, Texarkana’s most experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. When Samantha left as Director of Little Rascals, Brittany Hano took over as their Director. Over the years they have trained a new director and now Brittany assists at Dr. Hollingsworth’s office as well, yet they both still assist at the daycare morning and evening as needed. Samantha continues to be involved in the day to day operation of Little Rascals while also managing the billing, marketing, and patient care for Dr. Hollingsworth. Brittany has been there a year this month as his medical assistant and insurance coordinator. “We love getting the better end of both deals- working with the patients and people in Texarkana, yet also love having that close knit relationship with our daycare family as well. It’s more than a blessing to work two jobs that you love and get to work for Texarkana’s most experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and have all the hugs and kisses you could ask for from your day care children as well. Also, we both agree that getting to work with your best friend is a plus!”
