Alma Racine Smith, age 89, of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday May 25, 2026 in a local nursing center.

Mrs. Ā Smith was born March 28, 1937 in Fouke, Arkansas. She was retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and was a member of Eylau Baptist Church.

She loved to knit, crochet, tole paint and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Benton Smith, by one son, James Dwayne Smith, brothers J.C. Edwards, Orace Edwards, Bill Edwards, and sisters Nona Seward, and Margaret Duke.

Survivors include her children, LaDonna Goodwin and spouse Jerry of Campbell, Texas, Kathy Jeter and spouse Robert of Texarkana, Arkansas and Carolyn Johnson of Nash, Texas; one sister, Sue Tyler of Texarkana, Arkansas; two brothers, Ken Edwards and spouse Margie of Buda, Texas, Cecil Edwards and spouse Kay of Kaufman, Texas; seven grandchildren, Misty Gallo and spouse Justin, Jared Goodwin and spouse Mallory, Stephanie Ramirez and spouse Joaquin, Jonathan Jones, Christopher Ray and spouse Mike, Adrian Riera and spouse Sal and Garrett Johnson; seven great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas Chapel with Rev. Todd Reed officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of choice
