Barnie James Garrett (“BJ”), age 91, passed away on April 11, 2021 at his home in New Boston TX after several months of declining health, with his wife Charlene at his side.
He honorably served our country in the Korean War where he was the recipient of 8 wartime medals. Later as a veteran, he was active in the American Legion and the VFW, serving as chaplain for about 20 years, serving both Arkansas & Texas. The highlight of his retirement years was taking 6,000+ mile motorcycle trips with his son James, still riding his Harley up to the last day of his life.
BJ was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Calvin and Lottie Schmidthart Garrett.

A memorial in BJ’s honor will be held at the Garrett family reunion in New Boston, TX in July, 2021.
