Barry G. Murdock, 71, of Hooks, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2026.
He was born February 14, 1955, in Texarkana to Billy Joe and Laura Jean Murdock. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Murdock; his mother and stepfather, Jean and Charles Edwards; and his brother, Billy Murdock, Jr.
Barry is survived by his wife and lifelong companion of 48 years, Patty Murdock; daughters Holly Sleek and husband Billy, and Amber Cannedy and husband Ray, all of Hooks, Texas; grandchildren Ashton, Will, Madi, and Tatum; and sister-in-law Brenda Moore and husband Jack.
He worked for Texarkana College and the Texarkana, Arkansas School District. An outdoorsman at heart, Barry enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, traveling, his houseboat, and time at the lake. He loved grilling, watching sports, and cherished his family and friends. Known for his kindness, he loved his family fiercely.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Chapelwood Funeral Home from 5-7 PM.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel.
