Betty Ann Dodd Monroe, 90, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, at her beloved “Happy House,” near loved ones.
Betty was born in Texarkana, Texas, on August 7, 1936, to Sebe and Vera Dodd. A lifelong resident of Texarkana, she devoted her life to her family, her faith, her friends, and to educating children with special needs. She was a retired educator of special needs children and touched many lives through her compassion, patience, and dedication.
Betty loved her Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Texarkana. Her Sunday school class, the “Golden Circle,” held a very special place in her heart. She also cherished the dear friends who gathered with her each week to play cards and who lovingly assisted her in many ways. Their friendship meant a great deal to her.
Betty was the only daughter of Sebe and Vera Dodd. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bill Dodd, and her son, Donald Monroe.
She leaves behind three loving daughters: Becky Barrett of Dauphin Island, Alabama; Janet Green of Ashdown, Arkansas, “Yarbrough Landing”; and Vera Rasmussen of Boise, Idaho. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who brought great joy and love into her life.
Betty loved her family and friends deeply, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her strong faith, loving heart, and caring spirit will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
